What is a marital separation agreement?
A marital settlement agreement is the term used for the agreement which settles divorce cases. It contains the terms of all of the agreements entered into between the parties which are involved in their dissolution of marriage action. If both of the parties sign the agreement, then the agreement is presented to a judge who almost always accepts it and then issues a final judgment of dissolution of marriage. Almost all divorce actions are settled using marital settlement agreements as opposed to a contested final hearing. So the quicker you can sign a document usually the less expensive, time consuming and stressful your divorce action is. So that should be your goal from day one is to attempt, if possible, to resolve the issues of your divorce through the signing of a marital settlement agreement.
